KAUST Visualization Core Lab | KVL

Introduction

Visualization enables understanding and provides insight into scientific data to spark curiosity, intuition, and discovery. KAUST Visualization Core Laboratory (KVL) advances the KAUST mission by catalyzing innovation and collaborative research. We collaborate with domain researchers to accelerate discoveries through large-data visualization, machine learning, and data science. We support key research investments, such as the EM microscopes and the Shaheen supercomputer, using the latest methodologies to explore and analyze the extreme amounts of data generated. We also offer a wide range of world-class 2D and 3D collaborative spaces for interactive data exploration, creating effective discovery environments for our users.

services

KVL provides the below services;

  • Consultancy and Collaboration: KVL provides support to the users in terms of consultancy, advanced support, and collaborative projects in the areas of Scientific Visualization, Virtual and Augmented Reality, and Data Science.
  • Trainings: KVL provides various hands-on visualization and data science trainings throughout the year. These trainings are available for both KAUST and In-kingdom (non-KAUST) participants. Our trainings are also posted on our YouTube channel

In-kingdom Support

KVL has worked on various projects from the In-Kingdom organizations, such as Aramco, Neom, SEC, etc., in the recent past. KVL recently concluded a project with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) where our staff has designed a machine-learning pipeline and a visualization dashboard that helped SEC recover millions of Saudi Riyals. We also provide training and consultancy to various In-Kingdom universities and companies in their visualization, data science, and Virtual Reality related problems.
